Australia Day Trip

So for Australia Day instead of heading to the beach or park to sit on my wide backside to drink & eat we decided to go to the Botanical Gardens at Mt Tomah in the Blue Mountains. The day turned out to be perfect, not too hot and the thunderstorms which were forecast didn’t arrive. Here are some photos from our trip, we also drove to the 3 sisters. We were going to walk to the Katoomba falls but it was getting too late and it was a 2 hour round trip walk so we decided to save it for next time.

I did 14,000 steps that day and burnt over 3,000 calories.

When we got home we decided to treat ourselves to a margarita which you can guess what happened… turned into 4 or 5.Β And because of the alcohol we were craving carbs and we were eating pizza at 11pm! Oh well… no one is perfect and I’m not going to beat myself up about it, after all it was Australia Day!

Weigh in day is tomorrow….eeek

1 major concern

So I am currently on week 3, day 5 of Lite n’ Easy. Week 4 begins on Thursday and then the whole 4 week process repeats itself. I have one major concern about Lite n’ Easy which is.. SUGAR.

After sitting down on Sunday and really looking forward to my cube of chocolate cake I just happened to read the little bakery/nutritional info card that comes with it and I had a look at the ingredient list and do you know what the first ingredient was? … Sugar. For a tiny 3cm cube of cake it had almost 14 grams of sugar! This got me thinking what about all the afternoon snack bars that we get, the muffins, the fruit yoghurts, the cereals packed with dried fruits and not to mention all the Jam that comes with our morning slice of toast. We also get one or 2 pieces of fruit a day and this has a lot of natural sugar, but it’s still sugar! I also looked at some of the dinners and they also have between 8 – 15 grams of sugar each.

So I decided to log a full weeks worth of meals into My Fitness Pal and it turned out everyday I was over by 40 – 50 grams of sugar than what was recommended. My recommendation is max 30 grams of sugar in 1 day and I’m having almost double, sometimes more. Some people say it’s OK as long as you don’t go over your Calorie quota, but is it really???

For the people doing Weight Watchers there seems to be a lot of sugar in your snacks as well such as the brownies, the muffin bars, the cookies and the yoghurt.

So in order for me to get around the sugar issue I need to drop Lite n’ Easy’s Breakfast & Lunches where I get given the 2 snacks a day and plan my own. It wont be as easy but it looks like that is the only option for me. After week 4 I will still be keeping the dinners due to my working hours and the convenience but I think I may re-plan my food options for breakfast, lunch and snacks.

Is anyone else experiencing this? How have you gotten around the sugar issue?

No one is perfect…

Happy Monday everyone!

Ok, so I have been going over and over the remnants of last night and I still don’t know what came over me. I started out by telling myself that I would just have 1 margarita! After all, I had worked my but off all week and it was Sunday, boy was I wrong….

That 1 drink turned into 6, roughly 1200 calories and a very sore head! And to top it all off, the alcohol that I had consumed was telling my brain that it needed something carb loaded or full of sugar. I ended up having 4 or 5 veggie chips and a triangle of dark chocolate Toblerone.. ugh! I’m not even going to mention how I was feeling this morning…

So out of it all I have decided that I am not going to make the same mistake twice. I have learnt from it and now I will move on. Today is Monday, a brand new day of a brand new week.

It’s simple – ALCOHOL & WEIGHT LOSS DO NOT MIX!

I don’t need it, my body definitely doesn’t need it, it doesn’t do anything for me except make me feel horrible the next day, plus it blows my calorie allowance through the roof! So for the next few weeks there is NO ALCOHOL period!

So Australia day is coming up this Saturday and it’s going to be extremely difficult to not sit around and drink and eat sausages & rissoles off the BBQ like most of Australia will be doing. Instead, we are heading to Mount Tomah! It’s the Blue Mountains Botanic Garden. We will be doing lots of walking, exploring the gardens and hopefully we get some amazing pictures that I can share with you all. This is their website – Blue Mountains Botanic Gardens

What A Day!

Hello all, my sincere apologies that it has been a few days since my last post but life has gotten in the way. It was Mr and my anniversary today and I woke to the most beautiful bunch of flowers in my favourite colour.. I was so happy…… Thank you my love X

I sneakily weighed myself yesterday and I had gained 200 grams, this hit me like a ton of bricks. I was so upset with myself, I had run my ass off 5 days in a row for 45 minutes plus aimed for my 10,000 steps day. I had stuck to L & E’s menu and had not touched anything else… and I had gained! Luckily I had researched prior and now know that because I have upped my workouts I will be gaining muscle mass which explains the gain this week. I am still disappointed with myself as I wanted to hit the 1kg loss per week.

This put me in a funk… Mr and I decided to hit the park today and mess around with the footy and grip ball. On Friday I had purchased 2 pairs of Running Bare 1/2 tights in a size 12 and I was so proud today that one pair fit me and I wore them with a singlet I also got on Friday. I was so insecure about myself that I had to go home and change after the looks (I thought) I got and had to let out some emotion that I was feeling from the past few days.. in other words I was a mess. But I picked myself up and tried again, we went to the park and I had a lot of fun. (Even caught a football a few times and managed to kick it straight).

We arrived home, I mowed our backyard with a push mower (spinning blade) and boy is that hard work! Mr thought we deserved a drink and that ended up being 3 margaritas, 3 vodka lime & sodas and a martini but I said no to chips! Luckily I burnt over 2,000 calories today…

I feel like I have cheated myself and let myself down after all the hard work I have put in. Tomorrow is a new day and I am looking forward to it….

Last day of week 2!

Hi all, so week 3 of Lite n’ Easy starts tomorrow. I can’t wait for the Pizza & double chocolate cake!!! πŸ™‚

So this morning I was so busy at work and after I had eaten my breakfast I realised that I had forgotten to take a photo. It was just a wholegrain muffin with grilled cheese & tomato & an orange for morning tea.

I found lunch today to be terrible but I am no fan of fried rice. I really struggled to eat it and half of it ended up in the trash can. It was Thai fried rice with chicken, I definitely will be picking the ‘alternative’ when this one rolls around again. I also had my orange from yesterday that I didn’t eat and a vanilla yoghurt and peaches for afternoon tea.

For dinner (which I didn’t plan too well considering I had rice for lunch) but it was my only dinner left which was Sweet & Sour Chicken. I must say it was way better than lunch, it was nice don’t get me wrong, it had loads of veggies & chicken and the rice was nice too but I think I prefer some of the other dinners that I have had over this one.

So after my hour pounding the treadmill I decided to eat my leftovers which looked like this…

That was such a nice treat to finish off the day. The vanilla yoghurt was delicious really thick and creamy, almost like Greek yoghurt. Toby my pug decided he would clean the yoghurt container… πŸ™‚

Yes im slack…

Yes I know I know I have been terribly lazy! Well that’s not entirely true… I have been exercising after work. By the time I arrive home then fit an hours exercise in, have a shower etc it’s roughly 10pm and I am exhausted. I didn’t post last night and was contemplating not posting tonight and going to bed instead but I did promise daily posts.. well for the first 4 weeks anyway as then the menu repeats itself.

I start week 3 of Lite n’ Easy tomorrow, and I am loving it. I try and eat my breakfast at home most mornings before I leave for work and then I just grab my day pack/s and run out the door. As for next week I will be swapping my dinner for lunch and vice versa, I want to see if it makes a difference to my hunger levels of a late afternoon. I’m finding that I am really struggling with the huge meal around 5:30/6pm then coming home and exercising. I like to eat before 6pm so eating after exercising is not really an option.

So Tuesday for breakfast I had the Fruit & Bran flakes which I loved, Strawberry jam on a slice of toast and a red apple for morning tea.

IMG_0222

Lunch was ok, it was pasta carbonara. After I mixed it all together it became kind of like glue, I was not a huge fan but I don’t really like creamy pastas. I don’t think I will be getting this one again.

IMG_0227

For dinner I had the famous Lasagne which is my favourite…mmm

Feeling tired today….

Maybe it’s Mondayitis? who knows, but I am really tired and have a pounding headache. So I’m sorry but this is going to be a short post tonight.

Breakfast this morning was different it was AVOCADO πŸ™‚ tomato and ham on toast. I don’t know why but I seem to have some extra slices of bread this week so today I had 2, yippee! Also a red apple for morning tea.

IMG_0213

Lunch today was a Chicken burger with tomato & mayo, very delicious and it hit the spot, plus a bag of popcorn for afternoon tea!

IMG_0216

Dinner tonight was later than I had hoped for but I had the meatloaf. It was nice, I didn’t really know what to expect but the actual meatloaf itself was kind of spongy…. it tasted alright with the gravy & veg but not sure if I would get it again in a hurry.
